MTSKHETA –MTIANETI - region is situated in the central and northern part of the country. The northern part basically represents the mountain zone. The mountain skiing resort Gudauri is located there, which is at two thousand meters up from the sea level. The famous military road lies on this resort. One of the biggest tops of the Caucasus at 5047 meters up from the sea level is located in this region.

SVETITSKHOVELI - cathedral was built in 11-th century and represents the biggest church in Georgia. In the 4-th century the christianized king Mirian followed saint Nino’s advise and built the church on this place. The cathedral is situated in the city of Mtskheta, which was considered to be the capital of Georgia before Tbilisi became it.

JVARI MONASTERY – is located on the opposite mountain of Mtskheta. It was built in 6-th century. The Georgian king Mirian hoisted the wooden cross on the place of monastery in order to mark Christianity in Georgia, which became a symbol of Christianity not only for Georgian people but also for others living in the Caucasus.

ANANURI – the architectural complex was built in 12-th century. It is located on the military highway of Georgia, on a very nice place, at the territory of Zhinvali reservoir.

GERGETI – SAMEBA - church was built in 14-th century. It is located in the Caucasus Mountains at 2734 meters up from the sea level.

One of the remarkable places in the region is Dariali gorge, Where is one of the quickest river Tergi. Nearby there is the Truso gorge.
